Message from the Organizing Committee
On behalf of Nepalese Society of Neurosurgeons (NESON), it is our great pleasure to invite you to the 8th Annual conference of the Society (Virtual) to be held on November 7th, 2020.
NESON, from its inception in 2008, has been constantly growing in terms of number of its members, the quality of work, contribution to the society and the academic performances. Its endeavor to protect and prosper the neurosurgeons of this country and serve Nepalese community with excellence in Neurosurgical service is seen more and more apparently every year that has passed by. We can conclude that this society is growing in a tremendous speed, catching up with the quality of neurosurgical service rendered in developed countries, developing its own innovation most appropriate for Nepalese people. With a single-minded effort to uplift the standard of neurosurgical services in Nepal, gradually expanding to all parts of Nepal, NESON is moving forward with development in subspecialties and modern maneuvers like endoscopy, minimal invasive procedures and navigation guided procedures. Practicing Neurosurgery in Nepal is very challenging due to the inherent cultural, geographical and financial situation. However, working in this scenario also opens the opportunity for great innovations, thought process and satisfaction. The theme of this conference has been chosen as “Neurosurgery in Nepal: Challenges and opportunities” as the theme stimulates thinking and learning for all.
This conference aims to gather neurosurgeons from all over the country and share their work with the goal to improve the neurosurgical service towards excellence. This gathering will provide the opportunity to share one’s problems and initiate discussion to solve them collectively. The meeting is also attended by internationally renowned neurosurgeons and spine surgeons, who will share their expertise and experiences as well as guide the younger neurosurgeons to enhance their skill and knowledge.
The present pandemic has brought us lot of difficulties as well as different experiences which would be very informative to share so that all of us can learn from each other’s understanding. In addition, all of us have now time and opportunity to look back what one has been doing, organize their work detail and probably would be able to present a more meaningful scientific papers than would have done during their “normal” busy schedule of pre-pandemic era.
